Youngtown records and shared incidents

This initial collection contains four named victims from three incidents in 2013, 2018 and 2023. Shawntah Eierdam and Adam Manns were killed in the same October 2013 shooting. Their separate cards preserve both identities without treating the event as two separate incidents.

The later records cover Ruben Hernandez and Timothy Dewitt. Hernandez’s sources give different nearby intersections, so this directory retains Youngtown as the location and avoids placing a precise map pin. Dewitt’s record includes the confrontation described by investigators and the subsequent arrest report.

Youngtown should not be combined with adjacent El Mirage, Sun City or Peoria based on a suspect’s residence or arrest location. Hernandez’s suspect was stopped in Peoria; that does not move the underlying Youngtown case to Peoria. The 2013 suspect’s death in Glendale is described in the case history and is not counted as another Youngtown homicide victim.

Coverage still being researched

The August 2016 killing of a three-year-old is a follow-up priority for reconciling published identity and later court reporting. It is not included in the four-record count. That gap is one reason this directory should not be used as an official homicide total.

How this directory is built

About the Youngtown homicide data

Records are checked against official material and established reporting. Dates of discovery are distinguished from dates of attack. A source’s reported arrest or verdict is dated; no later outcome is assumed. Precise coordinates are left unset when the location is uncertain.

Is this a complete list of murders in Youngtown?

No. These 4 named victim records are an initial collection. Other documented incidents remain under review and are not included in this count.

Are the map pins exact crime-scene locations?

No map pins have been assigned yet. Each record gives the location described in the source, but precise scene coordinates have not been verified.

What is the difference between homicide and murder?

Homicide means one person caused another person’s death. Murder is a criminal legal classification. Case cards preserve distinctions such as homicide investigation, murder charge, conviction, unsolved case and murder-suicide rather than treating them as interchangeable.

Where do the Youngtown case sources come from?

Every card links to its supporting sources. This collection uses official material where available and local reporting, with conflicting or incomplete details explained.

Why are there four victims but three incidents?

Shawntah Eierdam and Adam Manns died in one October 25, 2013 incident. Each person has a record, while the event is described as a double homicide.
